Gender Pay Gap Reporting as at April 2020
At Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care we have always been committed to treating our people equally and ensuring that everyone, irrespective of ethnicity, background or gender, can progress and develop in direct proportion to their individual ability, diligence and commitment.
Our workforce of over 1,110 is split 76% women to 24% men. The gender pay gap, however, simply shows the difference in the average hourly earnings of men and women regardless of their roles in a business. The gap is not caused by men and women being paid differently to do the same job, but by the inherent nature of retail businesses in which many more women than men are employed in store-based customer facing roles.
This year’s results have been particularly distorted by the requirement to exclude from the calculations any colleagues who were on furlough in April 2020.
I confirm the data contained within this report is accurate.
