Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care is a family-owned and family-run business established in 1938. The business started in Birmingham where you will find it today. We are proud to have over 170 optical and hearing care branches in the UK, as well as many hearing care outlets in independent opticians and medical centres.
Founded in 1938 by qualified optician and pharmacist Solomon Scriven, Scrivens Opticians started operating from the heart of the Midlands, with a focus on customer care and excellent eye care service. Scrivens’ business expanded rapidly at the end of the Second World War, and by the early 1950s, expanded in London and Sheffield.
It was during this same period that a hearing aid service was introduced into Scrivens Opticians with the aim to add an additional dimension to our services and provide customers with even more solutions. Over the years the company has grown with branches in Hartlepool in the north, Penzance in the south, Diss in the east and Rhyl in the west. As the business has grown we’ve acquired individual practices and optical chains – these include Melson Wingate, Ronald Brown Opticians, and the Owl Group.
As we continue to grow, we’ve made sure that our core focus has remained the same: Providing our customers with excellent service and clinical excellence.
