I had a problem with my left eye. After a bout flu my eye was bloodshot and continuously weeping. The optometrist Amy offered a prompt same day appointment and analysed the problem with no long lasting eye damage and provided a solution as well.

Mr Mark Bentley was on duty and I had the privilege of being seen by him. Mark, took the time to explain everything to me, he also took great care not to overwhelm me with the equipment's noise. He stopped a few times and asked me if everything was alright, before continuing. He was calm, thorough and clear; extremely careful and reassured me, at all times, during the procedure.

This is such a professional and caring team. The optician was quick to diagnose a serious eye problem and referred me to hospital immediately last year-no doubt preventing sight damage.
More recently they’ve dealt with my family’s eye tests. The service was efficient and costs reasonable. Vouchers are sometimes available and our frames were on offer.
The audiologist was really kind and supportive with Mom-again providing a thoroughly professional service.
The staff at the branch (and a lady from Shirley who we have seen when covering) have all been very welcoming and helpful. They are polite, friendly and knowledgeable.
I always notice service levels and think it’s so important to recognise excellence. This team and the products and services provided are outstanding. I feel we are so lucky to have these optical and audiology experts available locally. Highly recommended.

Truly professional and trustworthy eye specialist!

I had a really great experience visiting this clinic. The eye doctor was extremely thorough and professional. She didn’t rush through the consultation at all, and most importantly, she didn’t try to upsell or exaggerate anything just to make money. Her advice was honest, sensible, and clearly based on medical judgment—not business interest. I really appreciated that.

The whole team was lovely too. When I called to book the appointment, the receptionist was polite and very helpful. On the day of my visit, the staff were welcoming, full of smiles, and explained everything clearly. They also went the extra mile to make sure I understood the procedures and options available.

All fees were explained clearly before anything was done—very fair and transparent. No hidden charges, no pressure.

I’m really glad I chose this clinic. If you’re looking for an eye doctor you can trust, I highly recommend them.

had a hearing test here and wasant expecting to walk out with a set of new hearing aids in such a quick time .Service was exceptional and taught me i should have called in years ago.The whole expirence was very good and now i can hear sounds i have been missing for years ,all i can say is dont wait to long to book an appointment as this will change your life ,so pleased i was advised by my brothher in law to contact them as he said what have you got to lose,well i didnt realise i had so much to gain

The Shirley Union Road Scrivens branch is located in-between the Xact Homes Estate Agents and William Hill on the corner of Union Road, just across the road from Shirley Driving Test Centre. If you have never visited us before and are looking for an optician in Shirley, our store is conveniently located for your easy access. There is convenient free parking for up to one hour in front of the branch. Free parking is also available outside BP Garage and driving test centre. Our Shirley branch offers NHS adult hearing service to patients over 19 years old based on a referral from your GP. Once referred by your GP we can provide a full hearing assessment and we will supply NHS digital hearing aids, free of charge, if you have a hearing loss. Our Shirley Union Road branch is accredited to provide urgent assessment and treatment for the sudden onset of eye problems as part of the NHS Community Urgent Eye Care Service (CUES).
