A creative eight-year-old from Whitchurch, Shropshire, is celebrating after winning a charity competition to design the front cover of an exciting adventure book, inspired by journeys, mysterious quests and amazing discoveries in real or magical worlds.
In the national competition organised by Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care, Lincoln Heath won a £50 book voucher and a notebook with his design on the front.
Youngsters were invited to submit their designs with all entry proceeds from the £1 suggested donation going to Alzheimer’s Society.
Sharon Walters, branch manager at Scrivens on Greenend in Whitchurch, said: “Alzheimer’s Society is our chosen charity and this activity has been a fantastic way to engage children while raising awareness of its vital work. This year’s competition invited youngsters to let their imaginations run wild by designing the front cover of an exciting adventure book. Lincoln’s colourful UFO and planet-themed entry really stood out and captured the fun and creativity of a brilliant adventure in outer space!”
Lincoln’s mum, Emily, said: “Lincoln couldn’t quite believe it when he found out he’d won, he was over the moon with his prizes! His Grandad spotted the competition in the branch and encouraged him to enter, so Lincoln threw himself into it, coming up with ideas for his UFO and space adventure book cover, which he put a lot of imagination and colour into. We’re incredibly proud of him and it’s been wonderful watching his creativity get recognised like this, especially knowing the competition is raising money for such a great cause.”
