Actor plays star role at Sherborne Opticians

Actor Denis Lill of ‘Only Fools and Horses’ fame took on a new role when he officially opened our Sherborne branch.

The special guest, who was accompanied by wife Vanessa, cut the ribbon at Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care’s new premises in Cheap Street. The couple were presented with flowers and Scrivens gift vouchers as a thank you and also had their eyes tested during the visit.

The actor, who played Cassandra’s dad in the classic comedy, lives just a few miles from the branch and was happy to play his part in its launch.

Manager Gene Finn said: “We were delighted Denis could join us. We certainly drew a crowd and had a really good morning. The feedback from our customers was very positive.”

The branch has moved a few doors from its former home to new-look premises with better facilities. It boasts the latest digital eye examination equipment and a new and updated range of frames, including the latest designer names. A full range of hearing care services is also provided.

Offers, including a £10 eye test and up to 50% off frames, will also celebrate the launch.

Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care is a family-run business which was established in 1938. It has 177 stores in England and Wales with 1,000 employees.
