Post on 31st March 2023

A popular and long serving Hearing Aid Audiologist who has trained hundreds of people all around the country has been honoured by Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care with its top accolade.

Stuart Spencer received the Sasha Georgevic Award at the company’s annual hearing conference.

The award is given in memory of the company’s late chairman and father to present Chairman, Nicholas Georgevic and Group Legal Director, Mark Georgevic.

Mark said: “Stuart is hugely respected and valued and well deserving of this recognition. We can’t think of anyone else who has done more to help to train and develop so many Scrivens Hearing Aid Audiologists since he started with us 42 years ago.”

Stuart, now working as a Hearing Aid Audiologist at the Scrivens branch in Rugeley, admitted he was extremely surprised and lost for words when his name was announced. He said: “It is great to be honoured by the directors and owners of the Company and colleagues. I have enjoyed a long career and I am grateful to Scrivens for giving me the opportunity to expand my scope of practice and move into other areas of work, such as working with Aston University and becoming a partner with the Health and Care Professions Council.”

Stuart joined the business as a trainee Hearing Aid Dispenser and went on to become National Training Manager for Hearing, Group Recruitment and Training Manager in 1998 and Professional Services and Training Manager for Hearing in 2000.

He has been the Clinical Lead for the company’s NHS work, sat on the HCPC Fitness to Practise panel and helped Scrivens to secure IQIPS accreditation in 2013.

The Sasha Georgevic Award is open for all Scrivens’ employees with a minimum of five years’ service and nominations are made by colleagues. Final selection is made by Nicholas and Mark Georgevic based on outstanding contribution to the business and/or customers, total commitment and all round dedication to Scrivens.

The late Sasha Georgevic was a qualified Hearing Aid Audiologist and a founding member of the Hearing Aid Council that governed and regulated private hearing dispensing in the UK from 1968 to 2010.
