Loyal Customers Launch Peterborough Opticians
Post on 7th December 2018
Loyal customers Eric and Sue Hooper were the focus of attention when they were chosen to officially open our new Peterborough branch.
The retired local couple performed the honours at Westgate Optical, Westgate, and were presented with flowers and gift vouchers as a thank you.
The former Westgate Optical branch has relocated from its long-time home in Beales department store to the new site, which is more accessible.
Branch manager Mary Wingfield said: “Our new store looks amazing and we wanted to mark its opening in style. We asked Eric and Sue to launch it because they have entrusted their eye care to us for around 50 years. It was a chance to celebrate their loyalty too.”
Sue, who used to be a physiotherapy assistant helping children with physical needs, said: “We were honoured and pleased to be asked. We have never gone anywhere else because we’ve always been happy with the service and aftercare. My husband has had some eye problems and the optician was brilliant.”
Retired chartered accountant Eric, aged 72, has had two eye operations at Peterborough Hospital. He now volunteers in the ophthalmic department giving support to fellow patients by making tea and having a chat or holding their hand during procedures if it helps to reassure them.
The new Westgate branch features the latest digital eye examination equipment and a new and updated range of frames, including the latest designer names. Offers including a £10 eye test and up to 50% off frames will also celebrate the launch.
Westgate Opticians is now part of Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care, a family run business which was established in 1938. It has over 170 stores in England and Wales, with over 1,000 employees.
