Loyal customers star at Wallasey launch

A husband and wife who have been loyal customers for 50 years were chosen to officially launch a new branch of a Wallasey opticians.
Barbara and Peter Howard performed the honours at Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care, which has moved from Wallasey Road to a bigger, more centralised store at Liscard Way. The couple were presented with flowers and gift vouchers as a thank you.
Barbara said: “It was a very big surprise when Gary the manager said we have a new shop opening and we would like you to open it. We have been customers for many years but we never expected anything like this.”
Manager Gary Blair said: “They are a lovely couple who have entrusted their eye care to us for a long time. We thought it would be fitting if they launched our new premises.”
The branch retains the same professional team but has more space, enabling it to offer better facilities and a wider range of frames. There are new sight testing rooms and the latest digital eye examination equipment. A full range of hearing care services is also provided.
It was known as Rayner Opticians until it became part of Scrivens last year. The Howards live in Wallasey and started their long association with the company at the former Rayner branch in Birkenhead.
Opening offers, including a £10 eye test and up to 50% off frames will also celebrate the launch.
Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care was established 76 years ago and has 170 stores in England and Wales, with 1,000 employees.
