NHS hearing aid batteries – product recall notice
Post on 22nd March 2016
Zenipower, the manufacturer of NHS hearing aid batteries, have issued a product recall due to a low risk of batteries exploding during use or if depleted.
This is a precautionary measure and no adverse incidents that resulted in an injury have been reported to MHRA (The Medicine and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency).
Patients who have been issued with the Zenipower A13 mercury-free batteries with best before dates of 08-2018 and 09-2018 are asked to stop using the batteries immediately.
John Wilkinson, MHRA’s Director of Medical Devices said “While the risk is very low, it is important people check if their hearing aids batteries are affected and if they are in doubt do not use the batteries. Patient safety is of paramount importance and continually monitored. Our priority is to ensure appropriate action is taken to ensure public safety”.
Please note, only batteries with these best before dates are affected.
If you have any pack of ZeniPower batteries with these best before dates of 08-2018 or 09-2018, then please stop using them and return them to your local branch.
If you have any concerns, please call our customer care team on 0800 626 427.
