Open your eyes to contact lenses
Post on 29th June 2023
A Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care customer survey has revealed that spectacle wearers can find their glasses a hindrance when it comes to enjoying the simple pleasures in life.
Respondents to the survey said their glasses got in the way of them cooking (35%), playing with their children and grandchildren (30%), playing sport (29%) and driving (15%).
However, despite contact lenses being a viable alternative to prescription glasses, more than half of those questioned (60%) had never tried them. And when asked if they had ever considered wearing contact lenses, a further 56% said they had but only half were now wearing them.
The most common reason cited for never trying contact lenses was the fear of putting something in their eyes or touching their eyes (32%).
Yet for those who get over any such reservations, the benefits and convenience do make a difference, and 57% said they wore their contact lenses every day.
A spokesperson from Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care said: “Our research shows that a significant percentage of people do find their glasses do not always offer a practical solution for certain activities, such as cooking and playing sport.
“A great alternative is to wear contact lenses which are lighter, more comfortable and offer greater clarity than ever before thanks to advances in technology. If people are looking to make the switch, we can help.
“For those worried about putting lenses in their eyes they can book an assessment with our optician and experience contact lenses first-hand. It’s free and there’s no obligation to take it further. It could be an eye-opening experience!”
