Prepare for the glare
Post on 28th October 2020
Now that the clocks have gone back and the nights are drawing in, it’s a good time to make sure your eyes are winter ready.
It’s not surprising that there is an increase in accident rates among motorists driving between 5pm to 8pm in the weeks following the end of British Summer Time – as we adjust to poorer visibility and changing weather conditions.
If you find yourself having to concentrate more as fading light and shorter days make it more difficult to see while driving, it’s a timely reminder to have an eye test. Vision does deteriorate with age, with the 40-plus group particularly at risk, but it can be corrected.
For your own safety, and the safety of other road users, it’s advisable to prepare for the glare of bright low winter sun and the dazzle of oncoming headlights.
So our message is ‘Get yourself seen’ and contact your local branch for an eye test.
There’s also extra help available for those dazzled by the intensity of oncoming headlights, even though they are dipped.
ZEISS DriveSafe Lenses have been specifically designed for those who want to feel safer and more comfortable when driving with their everyday lenses. They help to reduce glare, enhance vision in low-light conditions and make it easier to refocus when looking from the road to the dashboard, as well as your rear view and side mirrors.
ZEISS DriveSafe Lenses are available in both single vision and progressive lens designs.
If you would like to find out more about them, or need any advice on eye care, please call your local branch.
