Sandra eyes up 30 years at Blandford opticians

Post on 1st September 2017

A Blandford opticians has rolled out the red carpet for its manager, Sandra Way, who is celebrating 30 years at the branch.

Loyal customers from Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care, Market Place, joined Sandra, 51, for a special tea party to mark the milestone.  When Sandra started at the branch in 1987 she was a receptionist and 10 years later was promoted to manager, where she oversees a team of eight.

She said: “The years have flown by and I can’t believe that today I am fitting glasses for the children of the children I first used to serve.  Blandford hasn’t changed over the years, but I’m glad to say that specs have.  It’s become ‘cool’ to wear glasses, and for young people that’s a great thing as the stigma has gone.  In fact, children are disappointed if they pass an eye test!”

And when it comes to why she has stayed at the branch for all these years, her answer is simple: “My customers and my team!  I love working for Scrivens, which is a family business and you just feel part of it.  That feeling is extended to our customers, who are so loyal.”
