First up to the crease was Warwickshire batsman and former England player, Jonathan Trott. He said: “Being a professional cricketer you obviously need to have 20:20 vision, so sight tests are an essential part of our preparations for the season. We hope that families will also take heed and let this serve as reminder how important it is to have regular sight checks.”

Getting your eyes tested a minimum of every two years is vital, as changes to your vision is usually gradual and often goes unnoticed.

Scrivens optometrist Sheena Mangat said: “We urge people to get their eyes tested every two years, but many people ignore the advice. Children are also often neglected, yet poor vision can have a huge impact on their education and future success.

“It’s a privilege and huge responsibility to be responsible for The Bears eyesight, but I am confident that with our help they will certainly have the perfect vision to keep their eye on the ball.”
