Surprise gifts bring festive cheer

Post on 20th December 2022

Branches around the country spread some seasonal cheer by celebrating special customers in our festive surprise campaign.

Staff were asked to nominate people who they felt deserved a treat so we could present them with festive goodies. The reasons for nominations varied and showed that community spirit, kindness and good humour in the face of challenges remains strong in the areas we serve.

Community champion June Cartwright (pictures above), aged 78, founder of the Our Burslem Facebook page and community group, who works tirelessly on behalf of the town, was among the delighted recipients.

Collin Smith

Another was Colin Smith, aged 87, from Market Deeping, who was a full-time carer for his late wife Janet and whose own health took a back seat while she was his first priority. His positive approach to life continues to impress staff at his local branch.

Martin Curson

Retired care home manager Martin Curson, aged 74, was the choice of our Penistone branch. He lends a hand around the village by litter picking, tending to flower beds and clearing pavements of ice and snow when winter hits.

Malcolm and Janet Pilgrim

Ripley resident Malcolm Pilgrim, aged 80, who cares for his wife and disabled daughter, was praised for his kindness. He is recovering from a stroke and appreciated the surprise gift, praising his local branch staff for their kindness.

These are just some of the recipients. We wish them and all our customers a Happy Christmas.
