Triple celebrations for relaunched Leyton opticians

Post on 5th October 2023

All eyes have been on our Leyton opticians as the branch enjoyed a hat-trick of celebrations – a refurbishment, retirement and 85th anniversary.

The Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care team on Lea Bridge Road welcomed loyal customer Christina Dawson into the branch to officially launch its store and say a fond farewell to senior optical assistant, Susan Brenner after 25 years of service.

The investment also coincides with Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care – a family-run business established in 1938 – celebrating its milestone birthday.

The newly updated branch features the latest digital eye examination equipment, including an OCT (optical coherence tomography) Scanner, and an additional testing room.

Customers can also choose from an updated range of frames, including a larger selection of the latest designer names.

Branch Manager Aida Yearwood said: “Our new store looks fantastic and we wanted to mark its opening in style. Christina has entrusted us with her eye and hearing care for many years, and we were pleased to invite her to the branch for a double celebration!

“We also took the opportunity to celebrate our esteemed colleague, Susan. We’ve worked together for a fantastic nine years. She is a credit to the profession and will be sorely missed by the team and our customers. We wish her all the best for her retirement!”

Christina, who has been a customer for more than 30 years, said: “I felt very honoured to be chosen by the team to open the newly refurbished branch officially. It was a wonderful surprise!

“I only live around the corner from the store, so I often pop in for a catch up with the team and I’ve known Susan for a long time. The entire team at Scrivens are lovely and always makes me feel so well looked after when I visit them for eye and hearing care.”

Senior Optical Assistant Susan began working at the branch 25 years ago, initially starting her career as a Mobile Optical Assistant. Susan said: “It’s been wonderful celebrating my retirement with the team and Christina. I’ve worked with some brilliant colleagues over the years and have gotten to know many of the loyal customers in our local community.

“It feels like the end of an era, but I’m looking forward to the next chapter and the chance to spend more time with my family.”
